Hero

I read this article today on MSNBC, about a 91 year old lady who works at a Rite Aid in New York as a cashier and recently got robbed.  She is one of my new hero's because  1) she works at Rite Aid because she doesn't want to stay at home all day and get bored, and apparently, she doesn't like to be bored, she doesn't find it healthy  2) during the robbery she tried to stop the guy by grabbing his arm/hand then took a punch in the chest; she told the news people, he hit me good, but it didn't hurt  3) she wants to smack the robber guy when they catch him  4) and just when you think she is nothing but tough, you find out she knits and crochets gloves for the needy in her area, and takes care of the people around her.

Florence Critelli definitely makes it on to my "Hero" list.

Quilting

Somehow I stumbled across this blog today: http://q2quiltgroup.blogspot.com/ - it is my mom's quilt group blog!  In case you didn't know, my mom is a fantastic sewer and is part of such a fun quilting group that has met monthly for 10+ years I think?  Anyway, it was a lot of fun to see all their different quilt designs, and their blocks are EXPERTLY stitched and pieced together.  I can definitely learn from them!  I love to sew and have started making more quilts lately, but have a lot of learning and practicing ahead of me to get as good as these ladies!

For fun, I stole some of these pictures off of their blog to show some of my mom's work, cause I like her:

Maybe someday I will finish some of my sewing and crafty projects and post some of those pictures here...
